Covid-19 crisis marks importance of power utilities: NTPC


New Delhi, Apr 25 (IANS): The Covid-19 crisis has underlined the significance of power utilities that have assumed greater significance as electricity is extremely critical in smooth functioning of several sectors of the economy, according to state-run NTPC, here on Saturday.

NTPC is also managing coal supplies for continuous supply of electricity. "The NTPC management is monitoring developments closely so that every corner of the country remains adequately powered in its fight against Covid-19," it said in a statement.

"Among its fleet of power stations, NTPC Vindhyachal, the largest power station, achieved over 100 per cent PLF (power load factor) on April 13, and second 660 mw unit of India's first ultra supercritical power station NTPC Khargone went commercial during this period showing NTPC's commitment towards excellence in operations inspite of the lockdown," it said

The NTPC with 70 power stations has 62,110 MW installed capacity.
