Kasargod district on its path to be coronavirus-free

Stephan Kayyar

Daijiworld Media Network – Kasargod (EP)

Kasargod, May 4: The district is on its path to be free from the deadly coronavirus. Only three people from the district are under treatment in hospital. Out of 178 infected people, 175 have cured and have been discharged from hospital.

The virus had created panic in the district from March 17 for about three weeks, but the number of people who are getting cured is increasing since the last two weeks.

Positive cases have seen a drastic decrease.

There were no positive cases since the last four days. Two Chengala based people and one in Chemnad gram panchayat limits are under treatment at present.

People stranded in other states of the country, Kasargod and Kerala are returning home in view of coronavirus. Helpdesks are arranged at Talapady border for them. Several people including students and elderly have reached since Monday morning. Most of the students among them are students of colleges in Karnataka. Hundreds of people will be reaching from Goa, Maharashtra and other places. Those who have registered in website will be reaching on stipulated days. Those who need to reach soon will be helped at the helpdesks. There are 60 help desks at present. Officials said that their number will be raised to 100 soon.

A team of doctors is arranged to examine patients with coronavirus symptoms. A fire service vehicle is kept as stand by round the clock at the border in order to make Kerala coronavirus-free.

Those who want to return to Kerala should register their names on www.registernorkaroots.org and https://covid19jagratha.kerala.nic.in/addDomestic websites. Those who have not registered, should not arrive through Talapady inspection centre, said deputy commissioner Dr D Sajith Babu. Those who have not registered can spot register at helpdesks at Talapady. Those who have registered, will be given priority, he said.

Many Many thanks to all the right wing politician's of DK and Udupi. Without your help, Kasargod won't achieve this.
As per my understanding people who lives north to Chandragiri river are murli ethnic and have different languages as their mother tongue like Tulu,Konkani, urdu, beary and very low portion of Malayali civil servants.
The problem of majority of them is underestimate the quality of government services in Kerala and knock the doors of M'lore for each and every thing.
I don't know whether it's culturally motovated or mere a fashion/trend to approach M'lore for Fashion, health, automobile, tourism etc.
Now the auspicious decision of DK's authorities cost them the loss of 10+ poor Konkani/Tulu/beary native speakers. Fortunately government of Kerala acted as super hero my setting up special corona hospital within couple of weeks and arranged skilled medical team to northern part.

Now I hope my fellow kasrgod people will rethink for investing to M'lore.

Mark my word, the hospitals and business malls can see around 30% downfall of visitors soon.

    Jai Hind.

When first case of infection traced in Kerala , they started treating the patient, but our state started finding the religion of Corona, posters started hanging around against a community not to enter their village and so on... unfortunately Corona could not read that poster.

Those who not registered can register in spot but this will consume their 6-8 hours of time waiting at border as the approval process will take time for spot registration. Hence the request to do pre register and come at allocated date and an apprx time

I sincerely congratulate every one in Kasaragod for reducing Corona to single digit from 179. This is fruit to real hard work from every single citizen.

As a Konkani speaking person from Kasaragod, I always felt we are culturally part of DK, even though our district is in Kerala. This virus has unmasked many in DK and Udupi who showed thier inhuman side and humiliated us. Unfortunately, this include some regular Daijiworld commentators also.

While leaders in DK were playing Hindu-Muslim and BJP-Congress games for thier own benifit, our leaders in Kerala, forgot thier differences and fought agaist the virus United. Result is open to everybody now.

Dakshina Kannada people humiliated you all.. you say isn't it? We never did so... But now what have you done in your comment? Humiliation, revenge, become happy over our problems? Still we say, what infection we got here is from outside our dk. No one was infected even our people too had come from abroad... Someone shared here. Still we bless you people to come out from one digit infected number. Stay blessed....

Firstly, Not entire DK people. Inhuman behavior of government and police in the border resulted in 10+ deaths in Kasaragod. Even when the ambulance driver and patients relative were begging with the police, police showed no mercy towards them. About humiliation, please go through all the recent post related to Kasaragod in Daijiworld. Also in the social media networks like instagram, Twitter, Facebook. You will see how bad the comments were. They even said, all the cases in Karnataka is because of Kerala.

We closed the borders as per the guidelines of central and not as per the decision by our administration. That time, you all went to Supreme Court on the basis of the treatment to be given to the people who stay at the border suffering from different ailments. Fine, based on the verdict borders opened. People came to our district for treatment ... Once your government came to know dk got infected it sealed the borders right? Now you answer me, people of Kerala do not need treatment from Mangaluru for other diseases/emergencies other than corona? Now all people of other ailments got cured there? When we closed, its emergency for you and now no emergencies since you all sealed down... Isn't it?? Think it's our generosity/good heart and clean mind everything has become easy my dear.... If we people too had the same mentality of objecting everything and going on with often strikes, that prevails in Kerala, and if we too started objecting the outsiders coming into the state and starting commercial businesses,...where were you all would have landed? See how many shops are come up in Mangalore of keralites.. Because it's not possible there you stayed here and now staying here you are praising your government... More than this what humiliation we need tell me!!!!

I think you never read the news article above. In this article it clearly says that Kerala opened its borders with all measures. Kerala never sealed any borders for emergency services and essential services. I don’t know who spread misinformation among you people. Same Karnataka people along Wayanad border knows the truth.
It was wrong to stop medical treatment, that is the reason why Supreme Court ordered to open border for emergencies. Karnataka government realized their mistake and allowed for treatment.
Shops in Mangalore which is owned by Kerala people. This is one country and anyone can start business anywhere in India. No state is restricted to people of their state. You expect Kannadigas stay in Karnataka and don’t go out for business?? Is this your logic?? If you find Keralites starting business in mangalore as humiliation, I can imagine how narrow your thinking is.

    Dear Cynthia,

It is not a crime to open a business in neighboring state. If Keralites have opened business and if they are successful it is because of their intelligence and hardwork. They were able to grab the opportunity and cash on it.

When people speak of undivided Dakshina Kannada District, only Mangalore and Udupi is considered and people completely forget that Kasaragod was also part of it. Why???
As far as I know Daijiworld is the only media which covers complete Undivided DK.

While most of people from Kerala part of Tulunadu consider Mangalore as their own, many Mangaloreans do not even consider Tuluvas in Kasaragod as human beings. It is fair?????

All this because, Kerala is always ruled by non-BJP governments and DK is controlled by BJP. One more reason for this hate is because large number of beary speaking population in Kasaragod.

Sad to see our beloved 'Buddivantara Jille' losing the charm. Day by day our thinking is getting narrower and narrower.

    Dear Cynthia,

Please go through the statements made by DK and Udupi Politicians when Corona was creating ruckus in Kasaragod. Also, please go through the comment made by Daijiworld commentators on news items during that time. Some even asked to close the road permanently. Some called us mannerless, some said literacy does not mean education etc etc. Is this not humiliation???

You can still see senseless comments even on this post by Shankar, Mangaluru,

Regarding the current situation in DK, I never said I am happy. I sincerely hope situation comes under control soon.

Dear Prashant, leave all this aside for a moment... Just forget this issue. If we move back when Kerala flooded for so many days, did you all observe samething from Mangalore district? Were we not unitedly supporting in each and every aspect... We used to offer extra prayers at home as well as our religious institutions... Every organisation woke up to render help, support..(of course all...since, now this problem in between the two districts, I must say). Our medical team, our youth have reached there with essentials. When we were unable to reach there personally we used to call up and fill the people with courage.... This situation is different as it has spreaded all over, everyone was following the guidelines put forward by the government.... It's not our own decisions....Thank god you all succeeded in overcoming this pandemic... Stay blessed...

I appreciate the Kerala government timely action and various noble step that is first time introduced to combat the pandemic.

When the PM Modi's government is busy preparing flower bed for the President Donald Trump, the Kerala government has started acting when the first case reported in January. Now central BJP has extended the lock-down thrice but unable to bring the number of cases down. More and more citizens of India is dying of pandemic without paying single penny as compensation.

When Mangalorean blamed Kasargod for pandemic spread, the Kerala has proved that they can work single handed. Now the most educated district of Mangalore is under 'Red zone' just like Ahmeadbad that paid the price for Trump visit.

    Dear Cynthia,

Kerala-Karnataka border was sealed and not even a mosquito was allowed to pass through from more than one and half months now. Border was not only closed in Talapady, It was also closed in Bantwal, Puttur and Sullia, Every single road was closed by mud and mud roads we dug up. Also Police patrolled them 24x7.
Then how can you tell that present infections came from Kasaragod???? There is no such possibility. All the current cases are from people who came from abroad and from other districts of Karantaka itself.

Note: Kerala govt did not close the Wayanad district border for patients of neighboring Kodagu district. They took patients happily and treated them.
