Bengaluru, Jun 7: Noted Sandalwood actor Chiranjeevi Sarja passed away of a cardiac arrest here on Sunday June 7. He was 39.

Chiranjeevi had on Saturday June 6 complained of breathlessness and chest pain and was taken to a private hospital. However, he failed to respond to treatment and breathed his last on Sunday afternoon.

Sources said that the doctors in the hospital did their best to save his life, but in vain. As per government norms regarding coronavirus, a swab test was conducted and the sample sent to the lab.

He was the nephew of Kannada actor Arjun Sarja, brother of actor Dhruva Sarja, and grandson of actor Shakti Prasad.

Chiranjeevi did his schooling from Baldwin Boys High School, Bengaluru and graduated from Vijaya College, Bengaluru. He began his career in the Kannada film industry as an assistant director with Arjun Sarja, with whom he worked for about 4 years. He made his debut as an actor in 'Vayuputra' in 2009, in which he played the lead role.

Chiranjeevi had starred in several Kannada movies. His movies such as 'Chirru', 'Sinrga', 'Amma I Love You' and 'Aatagara' had earned much appreciation from fans. His upcoming movie 'Raja Marthanda' is in post-production stage, and three other movies were being filmed.
