Mangaluru: St Aloysius College stands tall in India Today-MDRA ranking

Mangaluru, Jul 3: St Aloysius College (Autonomous) Mangaluru, as every year took part in India Today–MDRA 2020 survey this year. The results announced in the July 6 edition of India Today Magazine, brought joy to all stakeholders of the college. The college had filed its participation in Arts, Science, Commerce, and Management, Computer Applications categories among the Undergraduate and Social Work and Mass Communication category in the Postgraduate Sections.

India Today-MDRA team does survey of Best Institutes in these categories along with Engineering, Medical, Dental, Hotel Management, Media, Fashion Design, Law and Architecture. The survey result was based on objective questionnaire evaluation and also perceptual evaluation, having a weightage of 50:50 for general programmes and 60:40 for professional programmes.

In the country, the college stands in the 50th place for arts education out of the top 120 ranked colleges. In the science category, the college bagged the 55th place out of the top 120 colleges ranked. In the commerce section, the college is in the 64th place out of the top 160 listed.

Among the professional programmes, in computer applications (BCA) category, the college is in the 20th place out of the top 110 colleges listed in the country. For management (BBA) programme, the college has secured 39th rank, out of 120 ranks announced. In the social work programme (MSW), out of the top 35 institutes, the college stands in the 17th place and in mass communication it has bagged Rank -33.

The objective questionnaire includes components like student selection process, student diversity, fees and funding, teacher quality, living experience, personality development and leadership, academic progression, internship and placements, new age courses etc.

The management of the college - Mangalore Jesuit Educational Society (MJES), has expressed its high appreciation for the efforts of the College in maintaining the first place among the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Coorg and applauded with gratitude all stakeholders responsible for this achievement.

It is to be recalled that the college is in the 101-150 band in the NIRF ranking 2020 conducted by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD), Government of India. St Aloysius is the only College to appear below 150 rank in the undivided Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu districts.

According to the latest statistics from UGC, there are 41,435 affiliated colleges in the country out of which only 621 are autonomous colleges and 314 colleges are colleges with excellence or potential for excellence. St Aloysius College is an autonomous institute with Potential for Excellence Status given by UGC, Star Status awarded by DBT, Government of India, NAAC accredited with a CGPA of 3.62 out of 4, Centre for Research Capacity Building under UGC-STRIDE, College with DDU Kaushal Kendra and is on the threshold of becoming a Deemed to be University in the near future.

    Congratulations and a Big Salute to my Alma Mater, St. Aloysius College, Mangalore, for being ranked within the Top 100 Colleges in India. This could only by the hard work, dedication and discipline of the Management, Faculty, all Supporting Staff as well as it's illustrious and industrious students over a period of more than a century. Kudos to all of them!

    It's an extremely happy moment for the Management, the Faculty & Staff and for me and thousands of Aloysians spread all over the world.

    I salute my alma mater......St.Aloysius college,
    I studied here few decades ago, once in few years i visit my college St.Aloysius, I go there in the evening,
    Just to take a look at those buildings that once housed me during studies, and to give a silent gratitude,
    Even today i feel surreal about it and the energy that surrounds the campus is strong.

    I also salute our jesuite fathers for their yeoman service to our society,

    GRATE hostel home away from home,- wardens like Ft Castrlino,loudruswamy - wah what's place!!. Much advanced than the time.
