Bengaluru, Jul 5: Home minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday July 5 allayed rumours about another possible lockdown in Bengaluru and appealed to people to stay where they are and not to return to their native places out of panic.

Sources say that several people have been leaving Bengaluru in the last few days fearing another lockdown.

Speaking to media in the city, minister said, "Coronavirus situation is completely under control in the state. Do not panic. If you go to your native villages the pandemic will spread there also. So be safe in the city."

He also dismissed reports about bed shortage in Bengaluru hospitals and said nearly 70 percent of the beds were unoccupied in private hospitals in the city. "There is no need to panic over bed shortage," he said.

"The Sunday lockdown of July 5 is a great success. People have closed down shops and stayed indoors voluntarily. No one has come out without any valid reason. All have to continue the same till evening," he added.
