Mangalore: Annual Cultural Fest ‘Incident-10’ Begins at NITK

Mangalore, Feb 24: ‘Incident-10’, the four-day mega cultural event, was inaugurated at the National Institute of Technology-Karnataka (NITK) in Suratkal on Wednesday February 24. 

This year, the event coincides with the golden jubilee celebrations of the institute and will see the participation of 30,000 students from over 150 colleges of India. 

Chief guest of the inaugural programme, Gopal Hosur, inspector general of police (western range), inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp.































Speaking on the occasion he said that youth have the potential to achieve and can become better human beings of the country. He added that they have to join in the process of creating change in the society as youth are the super power of this country.

“Today’s youth are viewed with cynicism and resentment. After beginning their careers, they start to abuse our country and the resentment results in terrorism, naxalism, communalism, and other anti-social activities”, he said and added that they need to love and understand the constitution of India and realize that the country has a vibrant democracy.

Guest of honour Dr Chandrashekar, managing director, Hutti Gold Mines, said that students need to cultivate discipline, devotion, and other good qualities. “Along with education, students have to participate in cultural activities and gain extra talent which will help them face problems in the future in their professional lives”, he said.

Prof Sandeep Sancheti, director, NITK, Suratkal, presided over the function. Venugopal A B, convener of ‘Incident-10’, gave an insight into the programme.  

Prof K N Lokesh, dean, students’ welfare, welcomed all. Vikas Sahu, president, students’ union, proposed the vote of thanks. Students’ union secretary Radhika Katyar was also present. Anadhi compered the programme.
