M'lore: Church Attack Probe - Commission Reserves Order on ‘Satyadarshini’

Mangalore, Mar 14: After bearing the arguments and counter arguments relating to a demand made by the advocates representing the Christian witnesses in the church attack cases, for providing to them copies of the controversial book, ‘Satyadarshini’, Justice Somashekhara, heading the B K Somashekhara Commission, reserved his orders.

Government lawyer, T P Srinivas, was of the opinion that law and order problems might arise, if the copies of the book are made available to the applicants. Francis, advocate for the Christians, placing his arguments, said that the work, originally in Telugu, had been translated into Kannada in 1997. The attack on churches happened in2008. So far, the government has not banned this book. Therefore, the lawyer arguing against handing over this book, should clarify as to what he is apprehensive about, he demanded.

Justice Somashekhara, who explained various provisions with the help of his past experiences under similar circumstances, said that he would consider giving the copies of the book with the condition that the lawyer who takes it accepts to take responsibility of ensuring that it is not misused. He however, reserved his orders on this demand.
