Mangalore, Mar 21: `Beyond the spoken word’ a unique art exhibition of Ashish Kamath’s paintings was inaugurated at Orchid Art Gallery, on Saturday March 20.

Senior artiste Vishnu Shevagoor inaugurated the exhibition and said every painting at the exhibition is unique in its own way and said that “Ashish Kamath has spoken through his art pieces and credit for the goodness in the paintings should go to parents of Ashish Kamath for fostering the talent latent in their only son”, he said.  He further added that his inability to express himself did not come in the way of expressing himself’ he said.

About 25 arts works of Ashish Kamath are on display at Orchid Art Gallery which will go on till 30th of March, 2010. `Beyond the spoken word’ exhibition of art works by Ashish Kamath is his first solo exhibition in the city.

Ashish Kamath’s art work speaks of the surroundings in which they are born. Certain fundamental factors have contributed intrinsically to his framework- his sensitivity, his attitude, his values and morals, his inspiration and aspirations, said William Pais, promoter of Orchid Art Gallery.

Ashish Kamath, though hearing and speech impaired, has used the space of his canvas for expressing thoughts, making up for the lack of spoken words.

The thoughts which are subdued and imprisoned by his inability to express vocally give the visitor a glimpse of the experience beyond mundane activities. In doing so he has traversed a path to reach out to beyond a spoken word.

Artworks titled  - prayer, love, goodnight, the long wait, shoe-makes, painting, smell my tea, mirror change, quick to see, beautiful horse, romantic touch, showing tea smell, people in heaven  though,  associated with every day nuances  certainly do not fail to convey the subtleties deep within. The ubiquitous similarities in depicting human forms particularly the eyes, in his works indicate hope, innocence, aspirations, and above all call for being content with the little pleasures of life.

Ashish Kamath, born in 1979 got professional training in art from LS Raheja School of Art Mumbai where he studied for four years. Hearing and speech impaired, Ashish went to special school for the deaf- at St Stephens High School for the Deaf in Mumbai. The Principal of the school Ms Dsa found the innate artistic talent in Ashish and encouraged him to develop further. His parents Vinayak R Kamath and Vinaya Kamath gave him the much needed boost to his artistic talent hidden in their only son and became his constant support and guiding factors.  Married to Sandya Kamath, Ashish lives and works in city.
