Mangaluru, Sep 5: Shakthi Residential School, Shree Gopalakrishna Pre-School and Shakthi PU College, Shakthinagar jointly organised ‘Guruvandana’- an honour to the most admirable retired teachers of DK district on the occasion of Teachers’ Day Celebrations with great zest and high spirits.
“It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge. By doing so the teacher becomes a role model to his pupils. It is possible for a disciple to bring life to a lifeless structure, only the teacher should be able to recognise the calibre, encourage and inspire them,” said Dr C N Shankar Rao in his address to the teachers of the Shakthi group of institutions.
Lack of emotional quotient today has led to a lot of disorder, he stated. People concentrate only on intelligence quotient. Inculcating both quotients is very essential in the present scenario. Blending storytelling along with academics last long in the minds of little ones, the moral values extracted from them keeps guiding the little mind.
He also felt that we are just passing on information to the next generation, this could be very well done by google too. They need someone to inculcate moral values. The New Education Policy will serve as a solution to this need of value-based skills.
