About 1.17L students to appear for NEET in TN

Chennai, Sep 13 (IANS): In order to avoid any last-minute problems and also taking into consideration the coronavirus safeguard measures, many medical college aspirants in Tamil Nadu reached the entrance test centres well ahead of time in Tamil Nadu on Sunday.

About 1.17 lakh students have applied to write the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) in the state to gain admission in a medical college.

There are about 240 exam centres in 14 cities in the states.

The students have been asked to be present at the test venue two hours before the start of the exam at 2 p.m.

Strict instructions have been issued as to the dos and don'ts for the students. Wearing masks and bringing an identity card apart from the hall ticket was some of them.

Meanwhile, members of the VCK party and some student organisations held protests in some parts of the state like Thanjavur, Madurai, Karur against NEET exams, according to reports reaching here.

The exam on Sunday is being held after three students in Tamil Nadu committed suicide fearing failure and various political parties demanding postponing of the exam.
