Man gunned down at traffic light by bike-borne shooters

New Delhi, Sep 13 (IANS): A man, out on bail in several criminal cases, was shot dead by some bike-borne assailants in east Delhi on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The bikers - three in number, according to sources - shot Yogesh multiple times when his car was at a busy red light in Madhu Vihar area.

Yogesh, who was married a few months back, was alone in the car when the attack took place. He was rushed to the hospital but doctors there declared him dead.

"We received a call at around 2 p.m. about the firing incident. Our team reached the spot immediately. The victim used to run a car washing workshop in Dakshinpuri. Several teams have been formed to identify the accused," DCP, East, Jasmeet Singh said.

Forensic teams have picked up some vital clues from the crime spot, police said, adding that the route taken by the attackers is being checked to find some clues about their identity.

The police suspect that the shooting might be fallout of a 2011 murder case registered in Ambedkar Nagar police station in which Yogesh was involved. Apart from murder, Yogesh had some other cases registered against him as well but was out on bail.
