Udupi, Sep 22: “The schemes meant for civic workers by the government should reach the beneficiaries,” said DC G Jagadeesha.
He was speaking after presiding over a district-level meeting of civic workers in DC’s office on Tuesday.
“Medical examinations of civic workers should be conducted as stipulated by the government. Besides an annual medical check-up should be conducted through the cooperation of a high-grade hospital,” he said.
“Civic workers should be given money to buy cleaning machines in rural areas. Leading banks should ensure that cleaners get loans at low rates of interest,” he said.
“Civic workers should be given priority while allotting sites from gram panchayats in rural limits. Safai Karmachari Abhivridhi Nigama and Ambedkar Abhivridhi Nigama should create awareness on facilities available to them and make them beneficiaries,” he said.
“Civic workers on cleanliness work should be provided permanent jobs,” he added.
Udupi district panchayat deputy secretary Kiran Padnekar, ASP Kumarchandra, urban development treasury project director Arunaprabha and other officials were present.
