Media Release

Mangaluru, Nov 2: "Kannada, Kannadiga and Karnataka are interlinked and become meaningless when separated," said Dr Rohinaksha Shirlalu, assistant professor of Kannada at Karnataka Central University, Kalburgi, speaking on the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava or Karnataka Foundation Day at Shakthi PU College, Shakthinagar, here.

"Kannada is not just a language, it is the strength of Kannadigas. Our culture and literature have taken a wonderful contour as we explore. Each language has its own style, idioms, cultural references and heritage. Children who are exposed to these features; the ideas they represent, the new vocabulary and the grammatical variation, are equipping themselves with the tools to understand the world in completely new ways.

"The folks of Karnataka are its asset and are responsible for its socio-economic growth. The vast land of Karnataka has opened avenues for various occupations and farming has brought in a lot of expansion. Let us together strive hard for its growth and sustain the urge to learn Kannada. By doing so, let us draw the attention of the globe towards our state and thus create scope for expansion in the future," he stated.

Let Kannada be given due respect in all walks of life and let it not remain a day's celebration," he said.
