Mangaluru, Nov 3: St Agnes College (Autonomous) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Kanara Chambers of Commerce and Industry. They are the apex body in the region and along with the members are working towards making the region of Dakshina Kannada congenial for sustained economic activities by entrepreneurs, business houses and corporates, leading to better employment, better utilization of resources and balanced inclusive growth of this region.
Their objective is the growth of the region, serving trade and industry in this coastal region of Karnataka, Dakshina Kannada. KCCI promotes and protects the interests of anyone engaged in trade, commerce, manufacturing and allied activities, specifically in the region of Dakshina Kannada and India in general.
The purpose behind the signing of MoU between St Agnes College (Autonomous) and Kanara Chambers of Commerce and Industry is to support training and internship programmes for students of St Agnes College (Autonomous) and other forms of industry-academia partnerships. The training will expose the students to the latest trends and practices and also give them an opportunity to learn from some of the best professionals in the industry.
Expressing happiness at the signing of the agreement, Sr Dr M Venissa AC, the principal said, “The agreement will help our students hone their skills and become industry-ready.” Sr Principal was equally sure that the workshops to be conducted will add to the knowledge and skill levels of the students.
The MoU was signed in view of the common interest in the field to help students and faculty of the college to sharpen their practical skills, equip them with the ability to work in culturally diverse teams and contribute largely to their personal and professional development.
The signatories of the MOU were Sr Dr M Venissa AC, principal of St Agnes College (Autonomous) and Isaac Vas, president of Kanara Chambers of Commerce and Industry Mangaluru.
Sr Roopa Rodrigues AC, the vice-principal, Lawren Maria Castelino, assistant professor and placement officer, P B Ahmed Mudassar, director, Shashidarana, vice-president of KCCI were also present for the signing ceremony.
