Mangaluru: Prime Minister's office imposes Rs 13 lac fine on hospital

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Nov 24: The office of the Prime Minister (PM) has imposed a fine of Rs 12.96 ac on a private hospital in the city. The hospital has been found guilty of admitting two patients privately instead of covering them under the Ayushman Bharat scheme and collecting huge amounts from them by way of bills. The fine imposed is Rs 12,96,320. The hospital has also been asked to refund the bill amount to the patients.

A person from Panambur had met with an accident in February this year. He had got admitted in the said hospital and sought to be treated under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. But the hospital, without covering him under the scheme, had treated and charged him about eight lac rupees, it is said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Abhyudaya Bharathi Seva Trust at Katipalla, which came to know of the incident, had complained to the office of the Prime Minister against the hospital. Based on the complaint, the government has sought the fine to be recovered through Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust. Based on similar complaint in the past, the same hospital had been fined for failing to cover the patient under the government scheme.

this hospital has been fined 13 lakhs ..... and asked to refund the patient...

now the patient has to run behind the hospital for refund of the bill....

instead of that , PMO should have paid the bill amount to patient from PM Cares/Careless Fund and recovered the same from the hospital...

poor people have lot of rights and privileges under various laws...but they do not have the means to enforce their rights...

Now the poor patient has to wait when the hospital will refund...

For such a small thing we have to approach PMO. What system do we have! What happens to illiterate rural people. Most hospitals do this either for corruption or in case of big hospitals long delays in govt reimbursement.
