Bangalore: Swami Nityananda Gets Conditional Bail

Bangalore, June 11 (IANS) The Karnataka High Court Friday granted bail to self-styled godman Swami Nityananda, involved in an alleged sex scam, on several conditions.

He has to furnish a Rs.100,000 bond, give no public discourses, surrender his passport and report to the police once in a fortnight.

Nityananda, who has been behind bars for over 50 days, is facing several criminal charges including rape.

He is likely to be freed Monday from Ramanagara jail, about 40 km from here, according to jail authorities.

They said the high court verdict will be presented to Ramanagara magistrate who then will order the jail authorities to release him after he executes the bond and agrees to fulfill other conditions.

Nityananda, who has a sprawling ashram at Bidadi, about 30 km from Bangalore, was arrested from Himachal Pradesh April 21, more than a month-and-a-half after a TV channel telecast video footage showing him in a sexual act with a woman, believed to a Tamil film actress. Bidadi is in Ramanagara district.

Nityananda claimed the footage was morphed.

      Folks,

      Whats Wrong with Indian people?

Nityananda committed no crime, he cheated nobody(IPC 420)?

If police want to harass anybody easiest way is to book him under dowry harassment, ask Dr GA Bawa former PSI of Kundapur and Karkala PS...

Now if same is law applied in US every adult in US will be in prison( may be they should whole country as prison- please ask Dr Moily for details about this).

It is clear that the whole episode of Swami Nithyananda is flare up by media more particulars TV media.I am not supporting Swami Nithyananda. What ever happened in both sides is deplorable.Loose tongues more particularly by Hindu biters responsible for blowing up the issue beyond proportions.Any how law should take its own course.

Let's get it straight - there was no crime commited. That's why police couldn't do anything. Wht he does in his personal life is not our business.

However, thousands of his devotees felt 'cheated'. Hope he learned his lessons and lives a clean/honest life going forward.

Compared to Halappa,Nitya's crimes are lesser in gravity. It is not a rape and just making use of available fecility.Any way end of fourth reel of cinema and I think hereafter "BUSSINESS IS AS USUAL"On leagal point of view, it is just an 420 section afart from FERA and sadal wood case.
