Gulf Voice of Mangalore 2010 – Kuwait Auditions

Kuwait, June 12: Following the stupendous success of ‘Gulf Voice of Mangalore - 2008’- a mega Konkani singing talent hunt show, ‘Youth Recreation Center’ had organized the preliminary rounds of ‘Gulf Voice of Mangalore – 2010’ on Friday June 11, at The Indian Community Girls School Auditorium – Salmiya here. This competition is open to all Konkani-speaking singers of Mangalorean origin, born on or before October 15, 1992 holding valid residential permits in this country.
The programme started at 10.00 am with the formal introduction of ‘Gulf Voice of Mangalore – 2010’ and its founder organizers, Lawrence Pinto and Louis Rodrigues, by Rita Rodrigues. A minute’s silence was observed in honour of, and to pray for Konkani legendary singer and composer, Wilfy Rebimbus, who left for heavenly abode recently, and for the Mangalore air crash victims. Organizer, Lawrence Pinto, extended a warm welcome to the audiences and participants.
Judges for the day’s competitions, Apolinaris D’Souza from Oman, Gration D’souza, and Ronald Rodrigues, were introduced by Rita Rodrigues. The judges were then escorted to the dais, presented with flower bouquets. Judging files were then handed over to the judges by the organizers. All the three judges are well-known Konkani singers, composers and song writers. The competitions were held separately for male and female contestants. Vote of thanks was proposed by Wilson Saldanha Shirthady. Names of the preliminary winners, who will move on to the semi-final round of Gulf Voice of Mangalore, are given below:

These male and female singers from the preliminary rounds will be competing at the semi-finals to be held on Friday October 8, 2010 at The American International School (Kamil Al-Rayes auditorium) Maidan Hawally. From among the male and female categories, one successful contestant each will then go to Dubai for the finals to continue their hunt for the coveted title along with ten other contestants coming from five countries.
