Bengaluru: Farm act protest - Congress MLA assaults police, then complains

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 21: During the Congress protest against the farm act here on Wednesday January 20, Jayanagar MLA Sowmya Reddy, assaulted an on-duty policewoman. After the video of the legislator's high-handedness became viral, people rained criticism on Sowmya.

When the Congress leaders tried to move towards the Raj Bhavan, the police stopped them and took them into custody. When a lady police constable came forward to usher her into the vehicle, Sowmya assaulted her. She then complained to Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, D K Shivakumar. She also visited the office of the police commissioner and complained against the police.

She said she was pushed around and that the police behaved badly with her. But the police said that they checked footage of all the TV cameras and none had anything to prove the allegation.

In the meanwhile, BJP leaders and many others urged the authorities through the social media to register a case and take action against MLA Sowmya Reddy for obstructing the police on duty and assaulting her. BJP joint spokesperson, S Prakash, tweeted, urging the police to register a case against the MLA.

Farm Act protests and the protagonists becoming uglier as days go by without a solution that brings them back to senses. Assault on any one is bad and uncivilized behaviour; assault on a police person is a CRIME whoever she or he may be, and must be severely dealt with.

karnataka police is one of the worst in the country..

The lady police woman must have behaved badly with the MLA as the khaki know that now Congress is not in power.

Good job by MLA Reddy. Arrogant police people should be shown the way by people like you.

police should know to behave properly. Even I have faced the arrogant policemen in traffic near Kalsanka in Udupi. These guys are from ghatta and behave as if they are the minister and speak to people in EKAVACHANA.
