Mangalore, June 17:
In what could have been a possible catastrophe, four members of a family escaped unhurt when the Maruti Omni (KA 18 N 953) they were traveling caught fire at Padil on Thursday June 17.

Abdul Khadar and three women from a family residing in Mudigere were in the city for the treatment of the one of the members. The incident took place at Padil after the van was moving out of the city filling gas at a petrol pump near Pumpwell.

Suspicious of gas leakage in the car Khadar with the family members jumped out of the van. Soon the vehicle was on fire and one of the localites, who gathered at the spot, summoned the fire service.
