Kuwait: Pascal Pinto Elected President of Newly Formed QAKCA

Kuwait, Jun 19: The Queen of Arabia Konkani Community Ahmadi (QAKCA) was inaugurated at Our Lady of Arabia Church, Ahmadi here on Tuesday June 15 with Pascal Pinto at the helm as president.
The other prominent members of the newly formed QAKCA includes Fr John Harry D’Souza as spiritual director, Stanley Machado as vice-president, Stephen Sequeira as secretary, Sunita Lewis as joint secretary, Georgina Fernandes as treasurer, Prescilla Pereira as liturgical co-ordinator, Ivan D’Almeida as music co-ordinator, Henry Castelino as cultural co-ordinator, Clara Fernandes as media person and Antony Gomes as sports co-ordinator.
As its inaugural event, QAKCA organized the feast of St Antony, the Miracle Saint, which was attended by a large number of devotees.
The evening started with Eucharistic Celebration. Fr John Harry D’Souza, assistant parish priest of Ahmadi Church was the main celebrant. During the mass, there was a Novena of St Anthony and special prayers were offered for the sick.
Later in the stage program, Stephen Sequeira, secretary of QAKCA gave a brief introduction on the newly formed community and explained the motives and future objectives.
Vally D’Sa and Luwiza D’Sa, one of the oldest Mangalorean Couples residing in Kuwait and a great supporter of Konkani were the chief guests for the ceremony .They greeted and blessed all the office-bearers of QAKCA. As an official symbol of inauguration, the QAKCA banner was unveiled by the couple
Pascal Pinto, newly elected president narrated the role of QAKCA in Ahmadi Church and also requested support from whole community in their future endeavors.
Fr John Harry D’Souza, the spiritual director of QAKCA, acknowledged the support of community members and called upon each one to strengthen the relationship among families. He also conducted some spot games and gave away the prizes.
Fr D’Souza also remained grateful to the great supports from Konkani Community, specially Vally and Luwisa D’Sa, Rony and Jasmine D’Cunha, for their outstanding service in music ministry, Francis and Jessy D’Souza, for their valued contribution in prayer group and Godfrey D’Souza, for sponsoring the refreshment.
