Mangalore, Jun 24: The Kumble gram panchayat has decided to accord a warm public reception to Anil Kumble - spin legend and one of the icons of the Indian Cricket team on, Sunday June 27.
Anil will be visiting Kumble, a northern most part of Kerala, the place where his ancestors had settled. He has made the people of Kumble proud by carrying its name along with his.
He is considered as one of the great hero of Indian cricket. He has made brilliant achievements in the cricketing field and the way he carries himself on and off the field is highly commendable. Kumble has captained the Indian Test Cricket side. He specializes in right arm leg spin, leg break with the mixture of googly flippers. He has taken the third biggest number of wickets in the history of test cricket and is the highest wicket taker of India. Even after his retirement he is successfully serving Bangalore Royal Challengers in the IPL. He is also serving as athlete’s commission of the world anti-doping agency.
Kumble Gram Panchayat had passed resolution to name Badiadka Telephone Exchange Road after Anil Kumble which will be inaugurated on the day by the icon himself. During the occasion, Kumble will be conferred with honorary citizenship by the Kasargod MP P Karunakaran. He will also be felicitated by some of the prominent personalities. This is the first ever public felicitation for Anil in his ancestral home.
