Mangalore: Dr V S Acharya Inaugurates City Police Commissioner’s Office

Mangalore, Jun 26: The police commissioner’s office was inaugurated in the city here on Saturday June 26.
Krishna J Palemar, in his presidential speech, said that IGP Gopal B Hosur had worked hard to make this commissionerate come into being.
He expressed happiness that a guest house for police officers had been provided with the police commissioner’s office as police officers coming from different places will need a place to stay.
Palemar said that the police department will be extended till Moodbidri with more officers being recruited to help maintain peace and prosperity in the district and this will help the development of the city.
He added that the present jail will be shifted to a new location and he will support the police department in constructing a new jail as there is plenty of land available in the district for a bigger jail.
“A service station in the department for the vehicles of the police department should also be introduced”, said Palemar.
Home minister Dr VS Acharya inaugurated the office and said that this is the fourth commissionerate in the state.
He said that the Mangalore commisonerate had been finished in five months as against the expected five months, which was good news.
Dr Acharya said that he wanted Seemanth Kumar to take charge of the commissionerate as he was familiar with the logistics of Dakshina Kannada region having served as superintendent of police here.
He said that Mulky, Moobidri, Bajpe, Konaje, and Ullal as well as other neighbouring places will be added to the commissionerate soon.
Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that he was happy that the home minister inaugurated the office. He promised to serve the public with more police departments being adding to the commissionerate and more police officials recruited for the department.
Assistant commissioner of police (ACP) R Ramesh delivered the vote of thanks.
DGP Ajay Kumar Singh, deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada V Ponnuraj, IGP Gopal B Hosur, MLA Nalin Kumar Kateel, Abhay Chandra Jain, Mangalore City Corporation Mayor Rajini Dugganna, district-in-charge Ajay Kumar Singh, DK Zilla Panchayath president Santosh Kumar Bhandary, and MCC deputy mayor Rajendra, were present on the occasion.
