Mangalore, Jun 26: The police commissioner’s office was inaugurated in the city here on Saturday June 26.

Krishna J Palemar, in his presidential speech, said that IGP Gopal B Hosur had worked hard to make this commissionerate come into being.

He expressed happiness that a guest house for police officers had been provided with the police commissioner’s office as police officers coming from different places will need a place to stay.

Palemar said that the police department will be extended till Moodbidri with more officers being recruited to help maintain peace and prosperity in the district and this will help the development of the city.

He added that the present jail will be shifted to a new location and he will support the police department in constructing a new jail as there is plenty of land available in the district for a bigger jail.

“A service station in the department for the vehicles of the police department should also be introduced”, said Palemar.

Home minister Dr VS Acharya inaugurated the office and said that this is the fourth commissionerate in the state.

He said that the Mangalore commisonerate had been finished in five months as against the expected five months, which was good news.

Dr Acharya said that he wanted Seemanth Kumar to take charge of the commissionerate as he was familiar with the logistics of Dakshina Kannada region having served as superintendent of police here.

He said that Mulky, Moobidri, Bajpe, Konaje, and Ullal as well as other neighbouring places will be added to the commissionerate soon.

Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that he was happy that the home minister inaugurated the office. He promised to serve the public with more police departments being adding to the commissionerate and more police officials recruited for the department.

Assistant commissioner of police (ACP) R Ramesh delivered the vote of thanks.

DGP Ajay Kumar Singh, deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada V Ponnuraj, IGP Gopal B Hosur, MLA Nalin Kumar Kateel, Abhay Chandra Jain, Mangalore City Corporation Mayor Rajini Dugganna, district-in-charge Ajay Kumar Singh, DK Zilla Panchayath president Santosh Kumar Bhandary, and MCC deputy mayor Rajendra, were present on the occasion.

Well, looks like u have stayed on the right side of the law and hence havent watched the cops closely :)
Cops in US ( I have seen atleast in California) do carry the baton. It goes with the color of the uniform hence u may have not noticed. I have seen it in zillion hollywood movies as well.

    Folks,

I liked Mr seemanth Kumar Singhji's "Stick".

In my humble opinion , "Stick" is a legacy of Brits!!!

Could anybody please enlighten me, from where i can buy one without joining Indian Police Force?

I have never seen any US policemen carrying any "Sticks" at any time.

Could Mr Austin of Chicago please advise me if Chicago police carry any "Sticks"??

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,

    Langoolacharya.

This is a good work by the Home Ministry to provide a bae for police. To those who commented negatively, I wish to advise them that this is built for police and is being used by police. Its not going to be used by BJP. Whichever the govt comes, this place shall be the HQ for police in DK Dist. If Congress comes to power, they are not going to change this place r build another place. We shuld be very fair in ur criticism to. We are educated and must learn to call spade a spade. But efficiency f plice personnel under BJP rule is matter of debate. But this building has nothing to do with politics. Its just mere achievement and morale boost for the police personnel. I wish the police for good luck and congratulate them for owing a ultra modern building and guest house.

Mr. Tanzeel......Please note that every ruling party doing the same thing. Atleast we should appriciate that our current MPs & MLAs are doing some good job within their limitations. Which is visible in undevided D.K. Commisionar office is one of those achievements. Instead of raising some silly things, we should appriciate the things which will encourage people do better. We are more educated now. We should think above the politics. Then only we can achieve something.

    Mr Nazeer/Rahuld,
If you feel you are not corrupted and can do better than what BJP is doing today, why can't go to Mangalore and work for people. Sitting somewhere anyone can give a big lecture.

As said by Ruben Pais congress could only talk about it and BJP got it done for the police. This is token of appreciation by the BJP govt to the police for working jointly with anti social elements like BD,VHP,RS etc etc..Till now the arrested activists(drama) were getting 3 star ambience inside jails now they will get 5 star facility..jai ho Karnataka....

Wow...Yet another center for promoting corruption. Since Dr. Acharya is involved, no doubt there will be no much cases are registered and the officers will have no serious work.

This was long overdue for Mangalore which has grown leaps and bounds.

Congratulations to all who made it happen.

Good job by BJP govt and Home Minister for making good on promise of commissioner to Kudla. Congress people kept talking about it for years but never made it happen.
