Mangalore, Jun 27: Relentless rain in and around the city since Friday night has caused plenty of damage affecting public life and also loss of properties.

Several low-lying areas in the city were inundated. Areas such as Kodialbail, Bharatinagar, Central Market, Padil among others were covered on Saturday with up to two- feet water after heavy over-night rain.

The DK district recorded 11.mm of rainfall in 24 hours till 8.00 am on Saturday.

Heavy rainfall that lashed across the region has also resulted in landslides. Several incidents were reported wherein the houses were either partially or fully damaged.
Nearly 40 houses in the city and 25 on the outskirts have been flooded so far.

Wall collapse here and there and crop- destruction has also occurred due to the persistent rain in the region.

What you sow so shall you reap. Un-planned development is the cause of this misery. Mother Nature is a great leveller. She gives all of it but disturb it she will unleash her fury.
