Mangalore: Vijaya Karnataka Journalist Jitendra K Bags Charaka Award

Mangalore, Jun 27: Jitendra Kundeshwar, chief correspondent at the city bureau of Karnataka’s leading Kannada daily ‘Vijay Karnataka,’ (VK) has bagged the prestigious Charaka Progressive Journalism Award.
Shangondas Gupta, executive director of Communication for Development and Learning (CDL) announced the winners of Charaka Progressive Journalism Award for the year 2009 and 2010.
Kundeshwar also bagged the Vaddarse Award – 2003 for his humanity focused Kannada article – No one concerned over tribal issues, Pa Go Rural Report Award for his article – Sustenance of tribal in the forest of Someshwar near Hebri.
He is a BA and LLB graduate from Vaikunta Baliga Law College, Udupi and also possesses degree in Sanskrit literature from Sanskrit College, Udupi. He is the son of Ganga R Bhat and late Raghavendra Bhat of Kundeshwar, near Karkala.
The award will be presented to Kundeshwar at Raj Bhavan on Thursday July 1 by Governor Hansraj Bharadwaj. The award comprised of Charaka trophy and a cash prize of Rs 10,000.
Radhakrishna Badthi, sub-editor of Vijay Karnataka has won a special award for the year 2010 under water conservation journalism.
