Mission South: BJP plans to rope in Olympian PT Usha to establish presence in Kerala

Daijiworld Media Network - Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 22: After the metro man, E Sreedharan joined BJP, the party is planning to gain a foothold in Kerala by including Olympian and former athlete PT Usha.

Meanwhile, it is quite certain that PT Usha supports the BJP and the Centre which she recently demonstrated by voicing in favour of the farm laws.

Defending the farm laws, she spoke against the remarks by climate change activist Greta Thunberg and singer Rihanna. "We are proud of our own culture and heritage and are the true model of democracy. Don't interfere in our internal matters, we know how to resolve our own issues because we are one and only nation in the world upholding UNITY IN diversity #indiaagainstpropaganda," the Olympian tweeted.

BJP has had representation in parliament from Kerala but the state is majorly a playing field the Left and Congress. As part of, 'Mission South', the BJP is keen on establishing itself and therefore is wooing icons from the state that could boost its prospects.

The BJP is looking forward to strengthening its base by pandering to the Hindu voters and those in favour of Sabarimala being restricted to women who have yet to reach puberty or crossed it. The party also hopes to tap the urban young voters of Kerala.

As per sources, the BJP is also hoping to rope in some popular film star and eminent people from the cultural and social field. Apart from 'mission south' the other aim of the BJP is to cut into Congress votes as the latter hopes to make comeback in the state in the upcoming polls and if Congress suffers a loss then it would be deeply embarrassing as Rahul Gandhi is an MP from Kerala.
