Bengaluru: Mysuru mayoral poll - Congress tries to appease angry Siddaramaiah

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Mar 3: The cold war which was ignited on account of ceding the post of the Mysuru mayor to the JD(S) by striking an alliance with that party and acceptance of the post of the deputy mayor in exchange, between Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president, D K Shivakumar, and leader of the opposition in the assembly, Siddaramaiah, continues. The high command has referred the incident to KPCC disciplinary committee.

President of the disciplinary committee and former union minister, K Rahman Khan, has served notice on Tanveer Sait, who negotiated the deal and agreed for the compromise formula.

It is being analysed that Siddaramaiah has succeeded in asserting his importance in the party by ensuring that the high command acted against the people who compromised in reference to the deal. The development happened a day before the beginning of 'Janadhwani' Padayatra conceptualised by Shivakumar. Shivakumar is said to be worried about the likely non-cooperation of Siddaramaiah to the Yatra.

Tanveer Sait has already met Shivakumar and given a report containing incidents leading to the mayoral election, duly making it clear that he did not take any decision on his own. Madhu Goud Yashki, All India Congress secretary who had been deputed to provide first-hand account of the developments met both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, and collected details. He went to Mysuru where he will meet the party corporators and hold discussions with them on Wednesday.

It is said that when Yashki Goud met him, Siddaramaiah said that the alliance with the JD(S) was forged with the specific intention of showing him in poor light and that he has been hurt. Shivakumar said that the decision to give mayoral post to the JD(S) was taken by local leaders.

Tanveer Sait told the reporters after meeting Shivakumar that he has been rewarded for keeping the BJP out of power in Mysuru. He said he has received notice from the disciplinary committee seeking explanation and that he has already provided a report and will furnish further clarification if there is a need for the same.

Siddaramaiyahji,, Congress is being pulled from different direction. If the intention is to serve the people through the Congress Ideology, please help the inexperienced Congress Leaders in Karnataka and ask them to burry the hatchet and work for the party in a clean slate basis. God bless
