Bangalore : Infosys Techie’s Wife Found Murdered

Bangalore, Aug 11 (DC):
The residents of BDA layout in JP Nagar 8th phase woke up to the news of gruesome murder of a 27-year-old school teacher on Tuesday morning. In a brutal act, unidentified assailants fastened the victim, Priyanka Gupta, to a chair with a plastic rope and slit her throat. They escaped with Rs two lakh in cash and gold and silver ornaments from the pooja room. They, however, left her mangalsutra and bangles made of gold untouched. The victim was a teacher in Delhi Public School on Kanakapura Main Road.

According to Satish Gupta, the victim’s husband and a software engineer in Infosys Technologies Ltd, Priyanka was alone at home when she was murdered. Satish told the police that he was out jogging when he received a call from Priyanka at around 5.45 am, informing him that two men had arrived at the doorstep to offer subscription of a magazine. He told her to send them away.
“He says he returned home at around 6.30 am, but found the door locked. Priyanka did not respond when he tried calling her on the mobile phone. Then, he rushed to his parents’ house in Venkateshwara Layout and borrowed his father’s car to fetch a set of spare keys from his office in Electronics City. When he arrived home and opened the door, he found his wife brutally murdered,” said a police officer of Hulimavu police station.

The body was shifted to Victoria Hospital for an autopsy. Priyanka Gupta hails from Lucknow and the couple is married for three years, without issues. The assailants have left behind a pair of gloves, a plastic rope and a kitchen knife.

A senior police officer said the death was due to asphyxiation and the killers seemed to have slit her throat after smothering her. “The gold and silver articles kept in the pooja room were missing apart from Rs 2 lakh in cash. Usually, professional criminals do not leave behind tell-tale evidences like gloves and jackets. Moreover, when they strike, professional criminals won’t allow victims to contact anyone,” said the officer.

Meanwhile, joint commissioner of police (crime) Alok Kumar said the murder will be probed from all angles. “We still need to find out whether it was a murder for gain or for some other reason. Right now, we can only say that the killer is not a professional. We have recovered some materials which could have been used in the crime, but all of them appear newly purchased and used only to commit the murder,” he said.

Later, the staff and students of Delhi Public School mourned the death of their mathematics teacher. “After the meet to condole her death, we cancelled all activities slotted for the day and sent the students home. The school will remain closed on Wednesday as a mark of respect to Mrs Gupta,” said authorities at the school.

This frankly goes to prove, marriages these guys are under a very heavy stress, joint families helped in releaving the stress. The govt has also a responsibility. People need to stress out, every area should have a club so people can go there and socialize at low expenses. At the moment a day out with the family will unload you of Rs5000/- min so thats why high cost of living, job insecurity etc lead to arguments and subsequently into voilence and such things eventually happen.

Shocked to see so many comments implicating the husband without any proof or sensitivity. Reminds me of Aarushi's case and how his father was made to suffer.

Let us presume the husband's innocence until proven guilty. Having said that, it is quite strange and almost unbelievable that his wife would call to let him know that there were two strangers at 5:30 am?. Even if we believe that why did not the husband come rushing back home by cutting short his morning walk?. Times have changed in India too, and it is foolish to think that one can get away with murder to come out of a relationship. It is unfortunate that Priyanka Gupta's life was cut short by the cruel act of a criminal. May her soul rest in peace and heartfelt sympathies to her parents and dear ones.

Very sad people kill after getting the money,  I think the husband is involved as to why he has to go to the office for keys as he should have break open the door or peeped thru the window or awake the neighbours as wat would have happened

How these educated public act so silly?5.45 am strangers visit the house means, with a minimum wisdom you can suspect the newcomers. why the hell u open the door for them when u are alone at home?Really lot of safety education , other than the school required to the public who lives in metros.
Really a very tragic event if the family bonded with love.

Now Bangalore has become no 1 for crime. These criminals murder for just few thousands rupees or laptops. They usually target the software engineers. So I request all the people in Bangalore specially software engineers to be very careful.

Many people keep observing us but we wont know until this kind of incident happens.

Let the government open up their eyes and ask human rights to close their eyes while we find the culprits and brutally murder them in public. If i would have been the judge for the case i would call the whole crowd of people, make the culprits naked and give them public killing by throwing stones on them.
    Heart breaking news.

As far as my analysis is concerned the husband has made a master plan to get his wife murdered as he took more than 45 mins to return home after his wife's panic call.

Very Much shocked. The culprits has been taken the gold and ornaments why they killed the human. it is really scary. how can we trust the people. They know the timings of her husband going for jog. This has been done by the known people only no doubt about that. We hope that they should not go any other robbery and kill somebody's life. Punish them let them suffer and kill them as they killed her. May her soul rest in peace.

I dont understand why media is so interested to publish the name 'Infosys' when any of its software engineer has some personal or family problems. Company has nothing to do with and no way related to what happens outside and at home to an employee.I think if the engineer is from any other company than Infosys, media would not have highlighted it.
