Mangalore: St Joseph College Inaugurated in City

Mangalore, Aug 12: St Joseph College of Management, Business and Administrative Studies, was inaugurated at a function organized at the Centenary Memorial Hall in Jeppu here, on Thursday August 12.
Prof Nivedita Lobo was the master of ceremony for the programme.
Registrar (evaluation) and dean of commerce faculty, Mangalore University, Prof P S Yedapadithaya, formally inaugurated the college. In his inaugural address, he noted that this is the eighth institution being run by Catholic Board of Education (CBE). The St Joseph Education Institutions has been expanding its base and reaching more and more people through its educational institutions. He hailed the group for making education affordable and accessible even to the marginalized and poor sections of the society including destitutes.
He added that the new college will lay emphasis on imparting quality education apart from value-based higher education. He observed that BBM and B Com courses have been included, taking into consideration the employability factor.
Bishop of Mangalore, Dr Aloysius Paul D’ Souza, who presided over the function, said that most of the schools in the malnad region were started by the missionaries with the motive and purpose to carry on the mandate from Lord Jesus, who taught us to love people and lead them towards light, and educate the backward people to make them fit to live in the society.
He further said that quality, quantity and equity are the three goals of the college, which will teach the children how to live, and how to grow with values. He said he was sure that the college will transform the students into great citizens of the country.
Rector of St Joseph seminary, Fr Joseph Martis, inaugurated the college website, which gives exhaustive details about the college.
Principal of St Joseph College, Fr Eric Crasta, proposed the vote of thanks.
Secretary of Catholic Board of Education, Fr Wilson V D’Souza, and correspondent, Fr J B Crasta, were also present.
