Students 'Thrilled' with Rahul Gandhi's Visit to State

Bangalore, Aug 13 (IANS):
Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi on Friday began a two-day visit to the state, interacting with college students at three places as part of his efforts to strengthen the party's students wing, the National Students Union of India (NSUI).

Media was kept away from his interaction with students in Mysore, Shimoga and Dharwad.

Gandhi, who landed at the Bangalore International Airport Friday morning, flew to Mysore from there. After meeting students of St. Philomena's college in Mysore, he hopped on to Shimoga and then to Dharwad.

He will be in Gulbarga Saturday to continue the interaction with students. He will then come to Bangalore for a meeting with state Congress leaders before returning to Delhi.

At Kuvempu Auditorium in Shimoga, about 790 students from various colleges interacted with Rahul on issues including Kashmir, Naxal menace, reservation system, corruption and mining mafia. The Congress leader, who fielded questions from students, also posed them with a few and sought replies.

During the interaction that lasted for more than an hour, Gandhi appealed to the youth not to develop a negative attitude towards the nation. A large number of students, who took part in the interaction, said they were "thrilled" to hear him speak. It was not only an experience but an excellent, learning opportunity, they added.

You are right Mr. Nithin Poojary. Mangalore is famous for education institutions. Only outsiders come study and go a responsible citizens. If Mangaloreans are educated why should they react to the hate speeches then create riot and kill in the name of religion. Mangalore is a communally divided district. Only God can save. We only have hope.

To all the commentators who are going gung-ho about Rahul Gandhi....

I have one simple question...WHAT EXACTLY IS HIS MAIN ACHIEVEMENT?

There was a report in bbc website 15 days back saying that his constituency AMETHI is one of the most poor and backward constituencies in India. All the promises made to the villagers were not fulfilled. They are just show pieces for his media jamboree.

As some people say he is the future PM of India (No doubt he will be ) But then what are his views on Naxalism, Telangana issue, Kashmir issue, Manipur blockage by Nagas - No one knows as he has never talked about these in media or public and yet he is the SAVIOR.

About his performance in parliament, he has asked ZERO questions and participated in ZERO debates in Lok Sabha lest we should believe these institutions are below the standard for the CHOSEN ONE.

I also want him to be the next PM of India as that way we will spared a dummy as we currently have.

So inspite of all my grouses I wish him luck....

Rahul Keep it up. You are the only hope.

Negative image of India is not hyped actually, it the true fact.
When a person gets closer to any reality, such as getting a admission, govt office, hospital, job anywhere, whatever the nationalistic idealogy he may carry, he can get -ve in an instance. The bribery, corruption is so much it is horrible. The worst part is the person who fights against it, has to fight harder than the person who is part of it.

If possible just make a difference here between victim and culprit, I am sure you can find endless positive results.

Looks like we have the right person to take our country towards a very promising future. The approach that Rahul Gandhi has chosen, most politicians have neglected. The youth are the future of any country. If the youth are in a healthy state of mind, the country prospers. Rahul Gandhi has time and again taken some time out of his busy schedule to interact with the students and has been patiently listening to their queries and trying to guide them. I don't remember any other politician who has done this. Keep going Rahul

This is a sign of a matured politician, investing time and energy garnering the youth for Nation Building & not dividing them based on cast creed or Relegion. Hope his efforts pays off and we would see a better society in the future. My good wishes as a youth are with Rahul.

With all his political background, this young leader is down to earth, simple, sincere and practical.

I hope if he can maintain this sincerity then he can take the young people along in building a strong India.

In today's politics we can not find a better young leader in any party.

Its nice to see Rahul changing the rule of the game, I hope in near future BJP leaders enstead of giving hate speeches, creating riots and killing people will follow Rahuls footsteps because all the above methods proved outdated in last two Loksabha elections. But it is still working in Mangalore.
