Mangalore: City-based Government Doctor Stabbed to Death

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Aug 14: Dr Surekha (50), a government doctor, who used to live at her home near KSRTC Bus Stand, Bejai in the city, was murdered by unknown miscreants on Friday August 13.

Surekha was killed during her visit to her home on Friday afternoon. During lunch time, she had visited her home from her clinic near the Police Lines here. She was found to have fallen on her face in the bathroom. Her brother, who went in looking for her at night after calls to her went unanswered, found that she had collapsed and died, due to injuries inflicted around her abdomen region with a vegetable-cutting knife. She had been stabbed nine times.

As her son was admitted into a hospital, after getting injured in accident a couple of years ago, there was no one in her house when she came home. Dr Gopesh Kumar, her husband, had died about two years back. Urwa police inspector, Niranjajraj Aras, and other personnel rushed to the spot upon receiving information. Investigations are on.

So far, the policemen have been unable to get any clue about those behind the murder or their motive. It was not a murder for gain, as no valuables have gone missing from the doctor's home.

This job is definitely within not from outsiders. Even the hardcore criminals has some ethics as they generally do not touch the nurses, doctors. Only people turn violent at hospitals is because of the attitude of hospitals when service is not provided.
Having said so, this might be the case of within family including professional and police should very closely monitor those within the family and who has been following her last one month. Mangalore police are quite smart and they will catch them.
    Very sad shocking news.

    Mr Beskoor,
You are partly right. Mangalore is always in the news, but always for the wrong reasons. And, I am certainly not happy about it. I dont want the world to see this image of my Mangalore. Incidents like these, communal riots, harrassment of the youth are not portraying the true image of our beautiful Mangalore. I appeal to the authorities to wake up and do something to curb such incidents. This is not the first time, but atleast make a genuine effort to prevent it from happening again. There are a lot of people out there who work odd hours, are single women or old people staying alone in the house. If such crimes keep repeating, none of these people will feel safe. Please catch the culprits at the earliest and award them with the stringiest of punishments so that no one else dares to even think of committing a crime. Make Mangalore a safe place for everyone
