Media Release

Udupi, Jul 21: "As the great poet of Malayalam Changappuzha Krishna Pillai said, 'Poetry is like a dancer. Whatever she wants to convey, she does it through signs and symbols'. Great poets like Changappuzha, Vallatthol, Ulloor and others enriched Malayalam poetry through their invaluable contributions to poetry. Ours is a country where spiritual works like Veda and Upanishads, epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata, aesthetic works of Kalidasa and Bhasa gave a magnificent form to poetry. The poets of Malayalam were inspired by them and built their strong edifice of poetry following their ideals. We should be happy that one of the major poets of Kannada K V Thirumalesh is going to enliven Malayalam poetry through translation," said Dr Jayaraj, head of the department of Emergency Medicine at KMC Manipal, releasing the book, 'K.V. Thirumaleshinte Theranjeduttha Kathakal'(Selected Poems of K.V.Thirumalesh) translated into Malayalam by Dr Parvathi G Aithal, in a simple function at SMS College mini hall at Brahmavar.

The principal of the college, Ganapathi Bhat chaired the session. Parvathi G Aithal gave the introductory speech and welcomed the guests. Professor Baburaj spoke as the chief guest and also read out Dr T K Ravindran's (co-translator) review of the book. Dr Harshith Kramadhari, the cover page artiste was felicitated. Jessey Elizabeth compered the deliberations in Malayalam.
