Mangalore, Sep 28: The Industrial Training Institutes’ (ITIs) Association staged a protest in front of the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office here on Tuesday September 28 against the decision of the Directorate General of Employment and Training (DGET) to conduct re-examination in two subjects for the final year students.

The Association told both union and state governments that the re-examination of Workshop Science and Mathematics subjects would be unjust as thousands of students had already appeared for the examinations conducted in July.

The DGET has decided to conduct the examination again following complaints of question paper leakage in five centres. The Association demanded that re-examination be held in those centres only.

As per the letter issued by R L Singh, director of training, on Monday September 13, it was stated that the re-examination will be held throughout the state in the second week of October.

Meanwhile, in a letter from Commissioner of the Directorate of Employment and Training, Bangalore, on Wednesday September 22, the deputy director of training S C Sharma stated that it will be held on Tuesday October 5 in centres where the examinations were cancelled.

The Association urged the state administration to follow the second letter and conduct re-examinations only at those centres where the exams were cancelled.
