Bantwal, Oct 1:
Shops were voluntarily closed and motorists refrained from venturing out on the roads here on Thursday September 30 till the Allahabad High Court announced its verdict on the Ayodhya issue.  The city wore a deserted look as very few private buses plied on the roads.  State-owned KSRTC buses were plying as per their daily schedule.

People were found glued to television sets as they anxiously awaited the announcement of the court verdict.  The police department provided adequate security across the taluk.  Western range IGP Alok Mohan and Putttur ASP camped in the taluk.

Circle inspector Nanjunde Gowda led the deployed policemen in communally-sensitive areas.  Personnel from KSRP, home guards, alongwith policemen provided security.  Policemen continued checks on vehicles at temporary road-blockades laid at intersections.

The majority of shops in Vittal, Bantwal, Kalladka, Panemangalore, and Farangipet, were partially closed.

Bantwal block BJP committee welcomed the verdict and hoped that the centuries-old dream of Hindu brethren will come true in the form of a Ram Mandir at the earliest.
