Mangalore: World Heart Day Celebrated at Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing

Mangalore, Oct 1:  The medical surgical nursing department of Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing organized the 'World Heart Day' celebration at A J Hospital’s conference Hall here on, recently.

Diana Lobo unveiled the theme of World Heart Day 2010; “Work place wellness, take responsibility of your own heart health”.


Speaking on the occasion, Dr Purushotham, interventional cardiologist, AJHRC, the chief guest said that the lifestyle modification is theonly way to tackle heart diseases. The principal of the college Larissa Martha Sams also explained the significance of the day.

To mark the occasion, inter-collegiate competitions were conducted. Myima Lhamo, Manipal College of Nursing, won the first place and Jennifer, St Ann’s College of Nursing the second place in the poster presentation.

Raji Babu, Athena College of Nursing bagged the first place, Swapna Sukmaran from NITTE Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences the second place and Anila N Thomas from Fr Muller’s College of Nursing got the third place in conceptual paper presentation.

Shambavi welcomed the gathering. Jonita Sheron Menezes, compeered the programme. Naveen Arthur Fernandes delivered the vote of thanks.The director of Laxmi Memorial Education Trust, Ashritha P Shetty presided over the function.
