'Jivatallo' Konkani translation of Kanavi's poetry collection by Melvyn Rodrigues released

Mangaluru, Aug 28: 'Jeevadhwani' collection of poems by renowned Kannada poet Chennaveera Kanavi is now available in its Konkani translation. Renowned Konkani poet and Sahitya Akademi awardee Melvyn Rodrigues, has translated this book. The book titled as 'Jivatallo' has been published by Sahitya Akademi.

Chennaveera Kanavi had won the Sahitya Akademi award for this book 'Jeevadhwani' in 1981. He is popularly known as 'Soujanyada Kavi' and 'Samanvayada Kavi'. He has published 20 poetry collections, besides other prose literature.

Melvyn Rodrigues has won the Sahitya Akademi award for his poetry collection 'Prakriticho Paas' in 2011. He has published 17 books, most of them are poetry collections and anthologies. Earlier, he had translated Yashwant Chittala's Kannada short stories 'Katheyadalu Hudugi' and K S Narasimhaswamy's poetry collection 'Tereda Bagilu' into Konkani for Sahitya Akademi. Besides, he has translated Arundhati Roy's essays into Konkani for magazines.

Melvyn is the founder of Kavita Trust, which works for the promotion of Konkani poetry.
