Udupi, Nov 24: "Supporting children to take up elocution from the young age supports their leadership qualities and self reliant," said writer Pius D'souza. He was speaking at the Udupi Diocese level elocution competition organized by Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh.
"Children develop leadership qualities when they participate in elocution. It develops confidence in them. Children can emerge as good leaders when they are supported by the parents" he said.
The elocution competition was organized in Kannada and Konkani languages in three categories.
Mary D'souza, president Catholic Sabha presided over the function.
Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, spiritual director Robert Menezes, immediate past president Gregory PK D'souza, general secretary Gerald Rodrigues, treasurer Laveena Periera, president Udupi deanery Leslie Cornelio,unit president ex-president's Elroy Kiran Crasto, Alwyn Quadrous, Dr Gerald Pinto were present during the function.
Victor Correa, Edward Coelho, Casin Rodrigues, Cleeta D'souza, Deena Vas, Lester Pinto, Cynthia Rodrigues, Denzil Pinto, Adrial Castelino were the judges for the event.
Edaward Larsen D'souza, convener elocution competition welcomed the gathering Santhosh Cornelio rendered vote of thanks. Anitha D'souza compered the programme.
