Beltangady, Dec 5: “Respecting every living being is the essence of any religion and motivating the
people to lead honest life is what true religion is all about”, said Sri Avadheshananda Giri Maharaj,
founder of Prabhu Premi Sangha, Haryana.
He was speaking after presiding over the Sarvadharma Sammelana (All-religious meet) organized
as a part of Lakshadeepotsava at Dharmasthala here on Saturday December 4.
Speaking further he said that it is not right to steal the happiness and damage the image of others.
Before doing anything one must realize that what might be hurting to oneself can equally hurt others.
Without hard-work taking the benefit with ease is not a good quality and it can never give real
happiness to anyone, he added.
He wished that the number of people who would willingly strive for the happiness of others, who would
not hesitate to extend a helping hand to the one in need increases in India as the country was always
known for humanity and brotherhood.
Earlier inaugurating the Sammelana, Shivaraj V Patil retired judge of Supreme Court of India said that
the values and ethics which were initially framed in the Constitution for the well-being of the country
and its citizens have not attained its purpose. It is mainly due to the still-prevailing black marks such as
caste-discrimination, poverty, corruption and the like, he pointed out. If these things are eliminated
from the nation it can move on a much progressive path, he asserted.
Puttur Maulavi U K Abdul Aziz Darimi, Bellary Bishop Fr Henry D'Souza and retired lecturer P Anantaraj
Indra gave a religious discourse on the occasion.
Sheela Unnikrishnan and troupe of Chennai presented a dance ballet at the cultural programme held in
the evening. Later Kanchimarukatte Utsava was held.
