Mangaluru: Srinivas University Institute of Engineering & Technology organizes 'Tech Yuva'

Mangaluru, Jun 8: A two-day National Level Techno Cultural and Sports Fiesta 'Tech Yuva - 22' was organised at Srinivas University Institute of Engineering & Technology (SUIET), Mukka, Mangaluru on June 7 and 8.

Around 1,200 participants from various engineering colleges took part in this mega event. Chief guest of the programme Dr K Ganesh Raj, senior scientist (Grade H) and former general manager, Regional Remote Sensing Centre, ISRO, Bengaluru inaugurated Tech Yuva – 22 by lighting the lamp. Poornima Bhojraj, senior artist in All India Radio and National Level Gold Medalist in Seniors Table Tennis Tournament was the guest of honour.

Dr A Srinivas Rao (pro-chancellor, Srinivas University) presided over the programme. Dr Jillella Satya Sai Kumar (pro vice chancellor, Srinivas University), Dr Anil Kumar (registrar, Srinivas University), Dr Thomas Pinto (dean, SUIET Mukka), Dr Ramakrishna Hegde (convenor, Tech Yuva 22), Thanya Girish (student coordinator) and Rakshith Pranav (student coordinator) were present on the dais.

Dean of the college, Dr Thomas Pinto delivered the welcome address. Convenor of Tech Yuva 22, Dr Ramakrishna Hegde presented an overview of 'Tech Yuva' since its inception in the year 2013. Professor K Shrinath Rao introduced the chief guest and guest of honour to the gathering.

In his inaugural address, Dr K Ganesh Raj congratulated the college management, faculty, staff and students for organising National Level Technical Cultural & Sports Fest 'Tech Yuva – 22'. Dr Ganesh Raj said that these kinds of events will help in improving the overall personality development of students. Dr Ganesh Raj said that today he is identified in the society because of the successful missions accomplished by ISRO. He further said that, students can achieve success through continuous learning, dedicated effort, skills, daring and their strong will power. Today entire world is looking at India because of successfully managing the pandemic situation. ISRO has successfully completed many projects related to climate change, crop management, disaster management, environmental calamities, land use, urban development and many of the space missions. Dr. Ganesh Raj said, everything was made possible because of the team effort of people working at ISRO. Hence, students should develop the zeal of achieving success in their life.

Guest of honour, Poornima Bhojraj addressed the students and said that the aspirations among the youth are very high at present. Hence, youths should control their mind and achieve success in life with good thought process. Age is just a number and age is not a barrier for achieving success in life. Students should involve in Cultural, Technical and Sports activities in order to have peace of mind which will further enhance their efficiency and will keep up the spirit at higher level.

Dr Jillella Satya Sai Kumar said that India has more youth population, and is one of the top nations in the world which is developing very fast, hence India will be setting new milestones in the coming years. Dr Jillella Satya Sai Kumar explained the relationship between Tech Yuga, Tech Yuva, Digital Yuga and said Artificial Intelligence will reach to the peak by 2030 by opening more opportunities for youths. In addition to the Intelligent Quotient, other factors like Emotional Quotient, Social Aspects and Social Innovation are very much important to come up with innovations which are helpful to the society and nation. Dr Jillella Satya Sai Kumar further said that education and just marks are not enough, in addition to this we need to develop minds, develop ideas, enrich knowledge and skills, and hence we can make India an international hub in Skills & Technology to the world in the coming years.

Dr Anil Kumar said that Applied Sciences can help the society to find solutions for many of the problems. Hence, in the next editions of Tech Yuva, competitions focusing on Research and Applied Sciences may be included to ignite the young minds.

In his Presidential remarks, Dr A Srinivas Rao applauded the 33 years of rich experience and achievements of chief guest Dr K Ganesh Raj in the field of Geology, Remote Sensing, Geo Spatial Applications, Water Resources, Ground Water, Landslide, Earthquake, Land Use, Urban Development, Environmental Studies. Dr Srinivas Rao further said that Dr Ganesh Raj is one of the Role Models of younger generation. Dr Srinivas Rao advised the engineering students to inculcate the creativity and achieve success by adopting right technology and contribute effectively to make India a Super Power Nation, No 1 in the world.

Professor Omprakash Bhat delivered vote of thanks. Students Shreeja Shetty and Simi Satish compered the programme as master of ceremony. Dinakar performed the invocation. Heads of various departments, faculty members, staff, students and participants from other engineering colleges were present during the inaugural ceremony.

A wide range of Technical competitions for Mechanical, Civil, Electronics & Communication, and Computer Science Engineering students namely Paper Presentation, Model Making, Collage, Robo Wars, 3D CAD Modeling, Code Hunt, Game of Mind, Web Development, Robo Soccer, Just A Minute were conducted on the first day (7th June) and Cultural & Sports events namely Singing, Solo and Group Dance, Tug of War, Basket Ball, Badminton, Photography, Face Painting, Dumb Charades, Mock Press and Treasure Hunt were conducted on the second day (June 8). Sports events namely Chess, Cricket and Table Tennis were conducted on both the days. This year 'BGMI' and 'Stand Up Comedy' competitions were introduced as special attraction. A total of 34 different varieties of competitions in Technical, Cultural, Literary and Sports were conducted in Tech Yuva-22.
