Dr Rajendra presided over the meeting that was held at the DC’s office on Friday in the city. The DC also directed to supply the sand that is collected from the work of silt removal of Adyapady dam on Phalguni river basin and back water area of Shamboor dam on Netravati river basin, to the consumers.

The DC said that ‘Maralu Mitra’ app is ready with many developments. Quality of sand can be assessed online by the consumers and they can book the sand in advance. He also called for widespread information on this app to the public so that it is used for good purpose.

Directing the steps to be taken in sand mining and distribution, DC Rajendra said, “Public living around the area of sand mining should not be put to any inconvenience. Sand transporting vehicles should move slowly in school zones. Every week a report giving details of stock of sand, consumers who have booked and those who have already received the sand, should be made available to the district administration. CCTV camera should be mandatorily fixed in sand excavation and loading area. GPS should be installed to all vehicles transporting sand.”
