Udupi: COTPA squad raids shops, hotels, bars, restaurants; collects fine for tobacco sale, use

Udupi, Aug 13: Taluk Tobacco control investigation squad raided shops selling tobacco products, hotel, bar and restaurants in order to implement COTPA (The Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003 or COTPA, 2003

The squad registered 18 cases under section 4, 6 (a) and 6 (b) and collected fine of Rs 3,250.

Udupi taluk health officer Dr Vasudeva Upadhyaya, medical officer of Shirva community health centre Dr Subramanya Rao, Zonal health education officer Chandrakala, ASI Sanjeeva M of Shirva police station and others were present.
