Mangalore: Fr Prashanth Madtha, Master Hirannayya among Eight Sandesha Awardees

Mangalore, Jan 30: The annual awards given by the Sandesha Foundation for Culture and Education will be conferred on eight eminent personalities for their contribution to art, literature and media.
This was announced by Dr Na D'Souza, chairman of the Sandesha Awards jury, at a press conference here on Friday January 30 morning.
"The jury has selected 8 personalities for the prestigious Sandesha Awards-2009, while the The Little Sisters of the Poor, Mysore have been selected for the Sandesha special recognition award.
Following are the awardees:
Dr G S Amoora, Dharwad (Kannada literature)
Fr Prashanth Madtha, SJ (Konkani literature)
Manu Idya, Suratkal (Tulu literature)
Master Hirannayya, Bangalore (Art)
Harini S Rao (Cinema-TV)
Vishnu Naik, Ankola (Journalism)
Mandya Ramesh (Media education)
K K Pejawar, Kulai (Education)
The Little Sisters of the Poor, Mysore (Special Recognition award)
The awards will be presented at a gala ceremony to be held at Sandesha premises on Sunday February 8. Bishop Aloysius Paul will preside over the function while Bishop Henry D'Souza of Bellary, who is also the founder-director of Sandesha, Prof B M Hegde of World Academy of Authentic Healing Science, will be the chief guests on the occasion.
"The Sandesha awardees are always selected without inviting applications. Accordingly the jury selects eminent contributors for the award," said Fr Valerian Mendonca, director of Sandesha.
The jury headed by by Dr Na D' Souza consists of Richard Lewis, Dr Na Da Shetty, Fr Mark Walder, Dr Sara Aboobakkar and Chandrakala Nandavara, he added.
Leo D 'Souza, manager and Titus Noronha, member of awards organizing committee were also present the press meet.
