Dubai, Apr 26: ‘Konkan Yuva Premier League - KYPL Cup’, a battle of cricketing talent for all Kannadigas, will be held at Insportz Indoor Cricket Dubai on Friday May 13. The event is being organized by Konkan Yuva.

Over 30 cricket teams from the various NRI Kannadiga societies will be participating in the event. Konkan Yuva (KY) members are enthusiastically organizing the 6-over soft ball cricket tournament.

Over 200 Kannadiga cricket players, 10 umpires, and over 50 KY volunteers will set the stage for this mega tournament with over four commentators who will provide running commentary in English, Kannada, and Tulu. Hundreds of spectators are expected to arrive sporting colorful T-shirts and caps supporting their favourite teams.

“Dubai is a cricket crazy place where people breathe cricket every day. I guess this is a conscious effort by all NRIs to stick together to a sport that has brought the nation together. We wanted to celebrate the spirit of cricket and organizing KYPL 2011 for cricket enthusiastic Kannadigas was a natural path forward,” said Stephen Nazareth, president of KY.

Registrations for the tournament will be based on a first-come-first serve basis and the last day for registrations is Thursday May 5.
