Bantwal, Apr 26:
As many as 11 families who have illegally constructed houses in Majjoni in Veerakambha village here, have been asked to evict by the authorities.

On Tuesday April 26, zilla panchayat president Shailaja Bhat among other people's representatives and officials visited the spot and conducted an inspection. However, no concrete action was taken to evict them.

The Problem:

Around one acre land in the village had been sanctioned to 11 landless families in the year 1997-99 and title deeds were also handed over at the time. However, the land was not divided among them.

However, before the land could be earmarked, the families constructed their houses according to their own wishes, without actually knowing which part of the land was theirs. They are now facing eviction.

D K zilla panchayat president K T Shailaja Bhat who visited Majjoni on Tuesday speaking to press persons said that the issue will be handled transparently under the provision of law. The deserving will get their land, she said.

The DC has inspected the land and will take necessary action, said Bantwal taluk panchayat CEO Vasantraj Shetty.

The gram panchayat is expected to carry out the process of surveying the land within a month and will divide the land accordingly among the rightful owners. Later, decision will be taken on the violators who have already built houses on the land, said Veerakamba GP vice-president M Veerappa.

Bantwal TP president Shailaja Shetty, vice-president Dinesh Amtoor among others were present.

Residents, speaking to press persons, said that when they built the houses no one had objected. They also alleged that officials deceived them by not showing them the land even after handing over the title deeds.

Land was sanctioned during 1997 - 99. And inspection is carried out in 2011. Means after 12 - 14 years the administration wakes up to see what is happening. I think local administration (Village Panchayat or Taluk Panchayat) might have changed atleast 3 times during this period. Without butter nothing moves on in Govt offices, so beneficiaries have got land awarded the clarity of area missed. Dear Henry nothing to do with Nagesh Nayak or for that matter even current BJP Govt.

As per the provision of law, land was sanctioned to 11 landless families in the year 1997! Only thing missing is, I think, they have not paid bribe to get their full right. Hope that the concerned authorities will deliver them justice.

If the 11 families who have built the house are the same as the 11 families who have been allotted with the land, what is the fuss about. It the mistake of authority who have not earmarked the each one's portion. How long the poor people can wait without a shelter? Now allow them to decide among themselves each one's portion based on their constructed houses. No need of demolition either. (It is a petty problem actually unless there is serious dispute among the dwellers themselves).

Another proof of lazyness by the administration. 1 Acre has been devided to 10 families. could have divide into 20 families @ 5 cents each. Sanctioned in 1997 and slept for all these 4 years.

Constructing houses of their own wherever they wanted on the place where they got sactioned is illegal. No doubt. They should demolish the built houses without any argument but they must claim all the loses caused from the officers incharge of this project. Dosnt matter if it is DC or CM.

Let all of us get together in this protest and get justice to the effected so that similar kind of action must not happen in the future.

Please comment and send a post card to DC and ZP President individually giving your full address.

We got the rights to know the reason for all these stupid things doing by them since we pay them salary to do our work.

Wake up and start action now.

Just hold those who granted permission to build and make them compensate for the families. These crooks give permission and make the poor families suffer.
