Mangaluru: Jubilee Celebrations held at Holy Angels’ Convent Belvedere

Mangaluru, Oct 9: Sisters of Charity of Mangalore Province hosted the twin celebration of Golden and Silver Jubilee of the 13 sisters of their consecrated religious life at Holy Angels’ Convent Belvedere.

The 9 Golden Jubilarians Sr Shanthi Castelino, Sr Mercy D’Souza, Sr Mabel Goveas, Sr Lucy Rodrigues, Sr Alphonsa Ancheril, Sr Jacintha D’Cunha, Sr Monthi Mary D’Silva, Sr Molly D’Souza and Sr Rosa Mathai A and 4 Silver Jubilarians Sr Latha Crasta, Sr Alice D’Souza, Sr Sahana Pinto and Sr Mangala D’Souza solemnly renewed their fidelity to the Lord and sang a song of gratitude for His steadfast love and unending mercy experienced in the Vineyard of the Lord.

The main celebrant, Fr Stany Goveas invited the Jubilarians to follow Jesus the Master with scars, cheerfully, gratefully and faithfully till the end of their life. “Church needs your sanctity and not your activity” with this he encouraged the Jubilarians to sing the song of magnificat making their life a blessing to all. The con- celebrants also joined to share the joy of jubilarians and invoked God’s blessings upon them.

Sr Irene Menezes the Provincial Superior rejoiced at the precious gifts of 13 Jubilarians thanking them for their rich contribution to the Church, to the Institute family and especially to the marginalized of the society. As she appreciated their service she said “Today each of you are a miracle, miracle that proclaims loud and clear God’s mighty hand in guiding you all through these years of your religious consecration”.

As the legacy of their life journey is unfolded by two sisters, the assembly marvelled at their hard life and spirit of sacrifice in the Vineyard of the Lord. The Jubilee Song added the beauty to the celebration and reached its culmination as the Jubilarians sliced the cake recalling their commitment and accompaniment in their life.

The twin celebration concluded with the note of thanksgiving by the Jubilarians, warm, affectionate wishes from the sisters present and with a sumptuous meal.
