Mangaluru: Kavita Trust announces Konkani poetry reciting competition for children, adults

Mangaluru, Oct 9: Kavita Trust has announced the dates for the auditions of the Nelson and Lavnan Rodricks, Cha Fra Decosta Memorial - All India Konkani poetry reciting competition for children and adults. These rounds will be held at five places in Karnataka, Kerala and Goa.

The Udupi round will be held on Sunday, November 6 at 9:30 am at St Francis Xavier School, Udyavar in association with Niranthar Udyavar. The Panaji round will be held on Monday, November 14 at 9:30 am at the Institute Menezes Braganza Hall and the Madgaon round on Tuesday, November 15 at 9:30 am at the Ravindra Kelekar Dyanmandir. Both these rounds will be in association with Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Goa. The Kerala round will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 2:30 pm at the Kumble Church School in association with Mahima magazine. The Mangalore round will be held on Sunday, November 20 at 9:30 am at the SFX Hall, MCC Bank, Hampankatta, Mangalore.

All the participants in the audition rounds will get certificates. The poem selected for the competition must be of minimum one and half minutes duration and maximum of three minutes. Participants may recite their own poems or they can choose any Konkani poems of other poets..

The winners of these rounds will get a chance to compete in the finals to be held on January 8, 2023 at Bela, Kasargod, Kerala during the 17th edition of Kavita Fest. Those selected for the finals will get a chance to win cash prizes. Their travelling, accommodation will be taken care of by the organisers.

Those who get selected for the finals must send in their two poems for the recitation by Decemeber 20, 2022.
