Sania Crashes Out of Madrid Open in First Round


Madrid, May 2 (IANS): India's Sania Mirza crashed out in the first round of the women's singles event of the €3,500,000 Madrid Open tennis tournament.

Sania went down to her in-form doubles partner Elena Vesnina 4-6, 3-6 in the red clay event here Sunday.

In the doubles, Sania and Elena open against eighth-seeded Czech pair Iveta Benesova and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova.
