Panaji, May 4: The Force India Formula One Team Academy will be holding Goa leg of `One from a Billion Hunt’ from May 4 in the state’s karting track at Margao town, officials said.

The Goa regional trials will go until May 8, 2011, which is a part of seven city nationwide hunt for the `fastest kid on the track.’

Ravikant Sabnavis, Vice President-Marketing, Kingfisher Airlines, which is a primary sponsor of the Force India Formula one team, said that the response for the Mumbai leg was mind blowing.

“We are also getting similar response for Goa leg. The trials are open for the kids from all over the country,” Sabnavis said adding that even those who could not make it in the Mumbai trials can try their
speed here. “Finally our aim is to get the fastest kid,” he quipped.

The children between 14 years to 17 years are eligible for the event.

Sabnavis said that after Goa the regional selections would be held at Kolhapur (Maharashtra), Bangaluru, Chennai and Amritsar.

The organizers have standardized the karts so that every one gets level playing field. “They will be given 5 lapse and best timing out of these lapses would be calculated as their performance,” he said.

Sabnavis said that 14 kids from each region would be selected for the national final where 100 finalists, which will also include wildcard entries, will compete against each other in September 2011 to win
place amongst 10 finalists. From October 3 to October 8, 2011, ten finalists from the national
final will go on to do a week-long intensive stint at Silverstone, UK comprising sessions on driver tuition on Dmax Karts.

“At the end of the intensive hands-on-week, an expert panel will pick three winners on the basis of a holistic assessment of their multiple capabilities and proficiency in requisite areas,” he added.

The three winners will be announced in India around the time of the Grand Prix of India in October 2011.
