BCPL Gas Project in Assam to be Completed by 2013

Dibrugarh, May 7 (PTI) The gas cracker project of the Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited at Assam's Lepetkata in Dibrugarh district is expected to be completed by 2013, a senior official said today.

Site development works, including boundary wall, construction of roads, drainage and piling jobs were almost complete, while erection of equipment and vessels of the grassroot petrochemical plant were in progress, BCPL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) B C Tripathi told PTI.

The overall physical progress of the project activities at Lepetkata, Duliajan and Lakwa sites as of now was 37.7 per cent, he said.

Though progress was disrupted by prolonged and heavy rains, labour problems and low performance of contractors among other reasons, Tripathi assured that sustained efforts were being made to arrest any delay in the project.
