Beltangady: Sapnavarna Samman Award to Vinu Balenja

Beltangady, May 8: Instead of building temples, if rich people come forward to organize cultural programmes, presence of god can be felt, said film director and litterateur Nagatihalli Chandrashekar.

He spoke after inaugurating the Suvarnas Sapthavarna programme of Suvarna Cultural Pratisthana organized in front of Suvarna Shopping Arcade here on Friday night. TV (serial) director Vinu Balenja was conferred with ‘Suvarnas Saptavarna Samman’ award on the occasion.

Speaking further, Nagatihalli said that "India will never be poor in culture. Our living places should be converted as cultural centres and thereby ‘wall of suspicion’ should be demolished. Good thoughts and healthy tastes should spread all over. Art is not mere expression, but it bridges the gap between hearts, he said.

Deputy speaker Yogish Bhat presiding over the programme said that local artiste of Beltangady should get a platform to exhibit their talents.

Retired lecturer Dr N Damodar Shetty, Suvarna Shopping Arcade owner Y Nanyappa Poojary were present. Sampath Suvarna welcomed. Rajendra Bhat compeered. Santhosh Salian delivered thenvote of thanks.
