'Koti Kanta Gayana' is harbinger of Karnataka’s progress, says CM Bommai

Bengaluru, Oct 28: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai flagged off the ‘’Koti Kanta Gayana,’’ (singing of one crore voices) at Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday.

The Koti Kanta Gayana initiative is a homage to Kannada goddess Bhuvaneshwari, Bommai said and pointed out that the State has pledged itself for the development of Karnataka and pave the way for its bright future.

 

The singing of select six poems with full of meaning by one crore Kannadigas simultaneously is an auspicious occasion and signals the unity of all the people of the State, the chief minister said asking all the people to dedicate themselves for the development of Kannada language.

The singing reverberates all over the State in all the villages, he said appreciating the initiative of the Kannada and Culture for organizing such a massive programme. The chief minister said the State’s highest Karnataka Ratna award will be posthumously conferred on Kannada star Puneeth Rajkumar, who passed away an year ago, on the coming Rajyothsava Day on November 1.

Bommai said film star Rajinikanth has been invited to be the chief guest and he is likely to attend the programme. Jnanapith Awardee Dr Chandrashekar Kambar and Dr Rajkumar’s family members will be participating in the Rajyothsava Day celebrations, he said.
